I don’t exactly remember when was the first time I read a haiku but since then I was interested in reading haiku. I admire haiku’s simplicity; such a short poem can describe a scene perfectly!

Since January 2010, after joining a haiku group and later Haiku Visions I started to write haiku in English. Some of them are based on a photo which was the objective of Haiku Visions, but there are also some more written based on a memory, a scene with no chance to capture its photo or just the way I feel at a moment.

Maybe some of the poems you read here doesn’t follow the standards of haiku, sometimes it is so hard to keep the Japanese standards of haiku in non-Japanese languages. But I’m still practicing and I would appreciate your comments.

well, i’m no haiku expert and i’ve read only a few, mostly by basho. but i do love your photo haiku. they articulate the abstract very well. so glad i stumbled on your site!
